The Panzerbefehlswagen Ausf.K was designed to serve as a command tank for the German Army but, unlike preceding Panzer III command vehicles, it retained a main armament in the form of a 5cm KwK39 L/60 cannon. A total of 50 of these armed command tanks were produced between December 1942 and February 1943. It was based on a standard Panzer III Ausf.M chassis, and a star antenna was used instead of the previously favored frame antenna. The turret, adopted from a Panzer IV Ausf.F, featured a shorter mantlet, while the coaxial machine gun was deleted and an extra visor was added to the turret front.

Dragon previously released a Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf.K (Item No. 9118 in the Orange Box range), but this latest 1/35 scale kit has nothing in common with that release. Thus, the new command tank takes the most updated components from the latest Panzer III and IV kits in Dragon’s Smart Kit range to ensure that this fine new kit is of the highest quality. Besides, the horizontal upper-hull plate is new to fit the larger Panzer IV turret that was installed, plus the turret frontal armor, truncated gun mantlet and visor are new. Also new is the superstructure frontal armor plate plus three spare antennas stowed on the right-hand fender.Text Modelers seeking something a little different from a run-of-the-mill Panzer III need look no farther than this well-armed command tank.

The Raumer S (Selbstrantrieb) was a heavily armoured minesweeper developed and built by Krupp for Germany during the Second World War. Weighing over 130 tons, this behemoth was effectively two sections articulated in the center, and moved by massive steel wheels that were 2.7 m in diameter. The vehicle was 15 m long and 4 m high. The track widths differed between the front and rear to encourage a wider sweep path. Each section of the Raumer S was powered by a Mayback HL90 engine generating 360 hp and 3600 rpm. Although armaments were not placed on the prototype which was created, there were plans to mount 7.92mm MG-42 machine guns for both anti-personnel and anti-aircraft roles. At the end of the war the existing Raumer S prototype was captured by the US Military; although what happened after it’s capture is unknown.

A new German medical vehicle has joined the ranks of Dragon’s much loved ’39-’45 series. The new kit represents a 4×2 ambulance based on the famous German 3-ton truck range, which was used for myriad purposes by German soldiers during WWII. Indeed, underscoring its importance, by 1944 some 70,000 4×2 trucks had been produced, along with at least 25,000 additional 4×4 trucks. The ambulance version featured a box body installed behind the standard cab to carry lying or seated casualties for medical evacuation. This new Ambulance Truck shares the highly accurate cab and chassis of Dragon’s existing 1/35 kit of the German 4×2 cargo truck. Likewise, the rear ambulance body is borrowed from the Maultier Ambulance kit. It includes a delicate access ladder on the rear, while the rear door opens to reveal an outfitted ambulance interior. New parts added to the mix are stowage boxes located under the box body. This stunning 1/35 scale kit fully lives up to the latest contemporary standards. Furthermore, the widely used German ambulance can be depicted in any theater and time period of WWII, giving modelers unlimited options for painting and weathering.
