The FLAK 41 50mm anti-aircraft gun was designed as a key air defense to make up for the lack of shooting height of the 37mm anti-aircraft gun. At that time, the anti-aircraft guns of 75mm and above were relatively heavy and could not be maneuvered at any time. The research and development of the artillery began slowly in 1936. In 1940, the contract was awarded to Rheinmetall-Borsig. The artillery developed two models to protect important industrial facilities. Neither model is successful, and both have the same failures. The speed of the reclamation mechanism is too slow, and the response to fast-moving targets and the rate of fire cannot meet the design requirements, and the smoke generated during launching seriously affects the sight during the day. A total of about 60 FLAK 41 50mm anti-aircraft guns were produced, starting in 1941, and some continued to be used until 1945.
