hataka-hobby HTK-CP05 Late WW2 Luftwaffe vol. II (1944-45)

RLM 81+82/76 scheme became the last official WW2 Luftwaffe pattern used  from August 1944. At least till end of that year RLM 83 was still used for mottling over other camouflage colours.

  • HTK-C008 – Brown-Violet (RLM81) – Used from August 1944 for upper surfaces in late-war RLM 81+82/76 camouflage scheme of all types of Luftwaffe aircraft
  • HTK-C020 – Light Green (RLM82) – Used from August 1944 for upper surfaces in late-war RLM 81+82/76 camouflage scheme of all types of Luftwaffe aircraft
  • HTK-C038 – Light Blue (RLM76) – Used from August 1944 for lower surfaces and fuselage sides in late-war RLM 81+82/76 scheme of all types of Luftwaffe aircraft

In 1944 Luftwaffe adopted several new colours – RLM 83 was most probably a replacement of RLM 74 in previous RLM 74+75/76 scheme, as simplified RLM 75/76 proved not effective against air attacks. It was officially used till August 1944.

  • HTK-C007 – Grey-Violet (RLM75) – Used from early 1941 for upper surfaces in RLM 74+75/76 scheme. From the first half of 1944 used in RLM 83+75/76 pattern
  • HTK-C022 – Dark Green (RLM83) – Introduced in the first half of 1944 as a replacement of RLM 74 and used in RLM 83+75/76 pattern officially applied till August 1944
  • HTK-C038 – Light Blue (RLM76) – Used from early 1941 for lower surfaces and fuselage sides in several mid and late war Luftwaffe patterns, including RLM 83+75/76 used in early 1944

In early 1941 a new camouflage scheme of RLM 74+75/76 (with mottling in RLM 02, 70 or 74) was introduced onto Luftwaffe day fighters and was widely used till gradual phase out in mid-1944.

  • HTK-C313 – Grey-Green (RLM74) – Used from early 1941 till mid-1944 for upper surfaces of Luftwaffe fighters in RLM 74+75/76 scheme. Phased out entirely in 1944
  • HTK-C007 – Grey-Violet (RLM75) – Used from early 1941 till mid-1944 for upper surfaces of Luftwaffe fighters in RLM 74+75/76 scheme. Also used in late-war schemes
  • HTK-C038 – Light Blue (RLM76) – Used from early 1941 till mid-1944 for lower and side surfaces of Luftwaffe fighters in RLM 74+75/76 scheme. Also in late-war schemes

hataka-hobby HTK-CP06 Early WW2 US Army Air Force (1941-43)

Since mid-1941 USAAF adopted a standard camouflage of Olive Drab No. 41 (with blotches of Medium Green No. 42) over Neutral Grey No. 43. The scheme was used till late 1943, when use of camouflage by USAAF was mostly abandoned.

  • HTK-C004 – US Olive Drab 41 (Early) – Standard base colour of upper surfaces of majority of USAAF aircraft from June 1941 until late 1943
  • HTK-C019 – Medium Green 42 – Used from mid-1942 for blotches along all edges on upper side of the wing and tail, also on the fuselage sides
  • HTK-C033 – Neutral Grey 43 – Standard colour of lower surfaces of USAAF aircraft in “Olive Drab” schemes from June 1941 till late 1943

By late 1943 use of camouflage by USAAF was mostly abandoned in favour of natural metal livery. In cases it was still applied, new colours were used – ANA 613 Olive Drab (lighter shade) over ANA 603 Sea Grey (more blueish tint).

  • HTK-C018 – US Olive Drab (Late) – ANA 613 Olive Drab, used from late 1943 till end of WW2 for upper surfaces of camouflaged USAAF aircraft
  • HTK-C031 – Gunship Grey – ANA 603 Sea Grey, used from late 1943 till end of WW2 for lower surfaces of camouflaged USAAF aircraft
  • HTK-C078 – Aluminium – Overall colour of USAAF aircraft after late 1943, when camouflage was abandoned except for night fighters and transports

hataka-hobby HTK-CP08 Early WW2 Royal AF (1940-41)

RAF planes entered WW2 wearing a “Temperate Land Scheme” of Dark Green and Dark Earth (“Sand & Spinach”) over Black and White bottom (after May 1940 repainted to Sky “Type S”). It was officially used till mid-1941.

  • HTK-C009 – Dark Earth – Used until August 1941 on upper surfaces of RAF fighters in Temperate Land Scheme. Later used on RAF bombers
  • HTK-C016 – Dark Green – Used on upper surfaces in camouflage schemes of RAF fighters and bombers from mid-1930s till end of WW2, including in Temperate Land Scheme
  • HTK-C026 – Sky “Type S” – Used for lower surfaces of Fighter Command aircraft from May 1940 until August 1941. Also used on fighter-bombers

RAF Coastal Command planes from mid-1941 wore Temperate Sea Scheme with Sky “Type S” (and later White) undersurfaces. The same scheme was also widely used by RN FAA planes from the beginning of war.

  • HTK-C140 – BS Extra Dark Sea Grey – Used for upper surfaces in Temperate Sea Scheme. From 1944 overall colour of upper surfaces of RAF CC aircraft
  • HTK-C202 – BS Dark Slate Grey – Used for upper surfaces in Temperate Sea Scheme of RAF Coastal Command and RN Fleet Air Arm planes
  • HTK-C026 – Sky “Type S” – Commonly used (from mid/late-1940) for lower surfaces of RAF CC and RN FAA aircraft in Temperate Sea Scheme
