The T-12’s design philosophy comes from the experience of mass production of T-18 tanks, the multi-layered weapon configuration, which is designed from medium-sized tank prototypes designed by US engineers. The T-12 is a simple structure between the two tracks and a vertical suspension.
It has an octagonal turret and a circular command tower, crew of 4 people, weighing 19 tons, a total length of 7.5 meters, 3 meters wide, 2.8 meters in height. The main weapon is a 32-year- old 45- mm artillery, with a space of 1000 rounds and three 7.62 mm DT machine guns on the ball machine seat , mounted below the command tower, on the right side of the main gun and on the side of the turret. Like all Soviet tanks at the time, the T-12 was fitted with a detachable “tail skid” that could increase the body length by 690 mm, increasing the trench to 2.65 meters.
