Russian 9K57 “Hurricane” self-propelled multiple rocket launcher

product description:
BM-27 Uragan (Russian: Ураган), translated as “hurricane”, system code-named 9P140, is a self-propelled multiple rocket launch system designed in the Soviet period. It began to equip the Soviet Army in the late 1970s, and it was the first heavy-duty multiple rocket launcher system to use modern tail-fin spin-stabilized rockets.

The BM-27 Uragan uses 16 tubes of 220 mm rocket launchers mounted on the rear of the Gil-135 heavy 8×8 chassis. The chassis is the same model as that of the Frog-7 rocket launch vehicle. There are two gasoline engines that drive the 20-ton vehicle to a maximum speed of 65 kilometers per hour. One engine drives the four wheels on the left, while the other drives the four wheels on the right. Although the Gil-135 truck has eight wheels driven, only the front and rear axles can be steered. The maximum mileage is 500 kilometers.

The cab of the Gil-135 truck has three defense capabilities, which can enable the crew to launch rockets in a nuclear, biological and chemical contaminated environment without being exposed to contamination. Four crew members can deploy or withdraw the system in less than three minutes.
