The Abarth elaboration involved many interventions such as the lightening of the body, the creation of larger wheel arches, the adoption of air intakes on the bonnet and on the sides to optimize the cooling of the mechanics. The Fiat 131 Abarth used an in-line 4-cylinder longitudinal front engine with a light alloy head and 4 valves per cylinder. Built starting from 1976, it was used in the World Rally Championship where it won three constructors’ championships, a FIA Drivers’ Cup and a drivers’ championship.
