HMS Exeter was the second ship of the York-class heavy cruisers of the British Royal Navy during World War II, and the fourth warship named after “Exeter”. The ship was heavily damaged in the 1939 Battle of La Plata Estuary and the battleship Admiral Graf Spee of the German Navy, so it was refitted. After the refit was completed, the ship was sent to East India and was sunk by the Japanese Navy in the Battle of Surabaya in 1942.
