The BREM-1 armored rescue vehicle was developed by the Soviet Army to support the T-72 main battle tank. Its main role is to rescue damaged tanks and other armored vehicles on the battlefield without fixed repair and maintenance facilities. Drag the damaged vehicle off the line or help the team members to perform repairs on site.

The BREM-1 is based on the chassis of the T-72A main battle tank and uses a 780-horsepower V-46 engine. Demolition of the turret and installation of a new superstructure, with three crew members. Equipped with a front dozer blade, the crane has a maximum lifting capacity of 19 tons. The main winch has a traction of 25 tons and can be increased to 100 tons after using the pulley block. The auxiliary winch has a traction of 530 kg. The maximum drag capacity is 50 tons. The body has a level of protection comparable to the T-72 main battle tank. It is equipped with a heavy machine gun with a diameter of 12.7 mm and a reserve of 840 rounds.

BREM-1 began production in 1984 and delivered 342 vehicles in 1990.
