LW036 – 1:35 scale Early Leopard 1 Diehl D139E2 Tracks and Sprockets

Can be used with any Leopard 1 kit

These tracks are link and length that click together with ball and socket joints.

All early production Leopard 1s (the first four batches) and other variants in the family (Bergepanzer 2, Pionierpanzer 1, Biber) were delivered with D139E2 tracks which had rubber blocks with chevron-shaped shoes.

The Dutch Army also used the same tracks throughout most of the life of all of their Leopard 1-based vehicles.

Parts

  • Each side
    • Sprocket front and rear with 8-bolt hub
    • 6 links x 4
    • 5 links x 9
    • single links with flat connectors x 5
    • single links with angled connectors x 14 (with angled pour block)

Instructions

  1. Carefully snap the links from the pour blocks.
  2. Single flat links have rectangular pour blocks for easy identification.
  3. Single angled links have angled pour blocks for easy identification.
  4. On the single-link sections, clean up the pour connections with a file.
  5. Clean up any flash with a stiff toothbrush or similar on the trackpad side. Cleaning on the tooth side means that you will lose some teeth.
  6. Click links together – see the diagram overleaf.
  7. Build tracks in sections, for example, top run, bottom run with kick-ups either end, and connect with angled links and around sprocket and idler.
  8. Remove ball from the end of your sections and butt glue the sections together.

For Tamiya Leopard 2A6

These tracks are link and length that click together with ball and socket joints.

Instructions

Ultra-cap

  1. Very carefully cut out the panel behind the commander’s cupola and clean up.
  2. Make sure part 6 fits snuggly and glue on parts 7 and 8. The two location holes under part 8 may need to be deepened slightly. The Revell 2A6 could be used as the compartment is already moulded open, but it is slightly bigger.

Smoke launchers

  1. Snip off the launchers from the pour block and clean up.
  2. Carefully glue them to the launch rails, taking careful note of the angles. On the top row, 1 and 2 face forwards, 3 and 4 are angled out slightly, 5 and 6 are even more angled. On the bottom row, both are angled out still further.
  3. The chains have a circular link at one end and a tab plus circular link at the other. Choose the circular link and carefully glue this over the nipple on the launcher cap. Repeat four times per side and allow to dry thoroughly.
  4. With tweezers or a scalpel blade, bend the chain backwards to meet the body of the launcher under the body, just behind the dust cap.

One thing not mentioned in the instructions – through lack of room – is that all flat surfaces over the entire turret roof (apart from hatches) has a non-slip coating, so you might want to replicate this via your own methods.

Also, 2A6M+ still uses SEM80/90 aerials, and has NOT upgraded to Comrods like 2A7, at least not yet.

meeting we organized on 17 and 18 September:

Explain a little about the subject, we already have almost everything linked.

Taking advantage of new facilities we have and good infrastructure, this year we decided to make our Marathon II but quite different from the previous.

The event will be held on the weekend of 17 and 18 September in the Park of Catalonia in Miniature . A theme park of 25,000 m2 housed in the countryside in the municipality of Torrelles de Llobregat, where you will find more than 100 models of Catalonia 1:25 scale, declared of National Tourist Interest, which was created to publicize the monuments and buildings more representative of Catalonia. The park also has an area called the Living Forest, an adventure park for young and old, to get lost among the trees, climb a tree or climbing zip lines.

Today we believe we are saturated contests nationally, so we we will not join that list and not for nothing, quite the contrary, we love to visit other cities and sharing small moments with friends / peers.

We want the event to do is to enjoy the weekend doing what we like in the company of hobbyists and all the provinces of Spain. An opportunity to present our work without the stress of a contest.

– All participants will exhibit many works as you want without limit (no extra charge).

– Each exhibited work will be assigned a number.

– All participants to the event will have a detail.

– The exhibition is open to the public on Saturday from 11: 00h to 19: 00h and Sunday from 10: 00h to 13: 00h.

– In the premises of the exhibition, we will have tables and chairs to go maqueteando all weekend and plug sockets.

– We will also have lamps tengais not to carry it (on request).

– The registration fee shall be: – 20 € with park admission and lunch Saturday and Sunday included.

– 12 € with park admission and lunch one day.
– Companions will have a reduced park admission price of 5 €.

1/35 Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf. H (Samrt Kit)

 

Box Size: 9.6″ x 15″ x 3.1″

In WWII a number of German command tanks containing long-range radios were created based on standard gun tanks, and one of these was the Panzerbefehlswagen III Ausf.H. As its name denotes, it was based on the Ausf.H chassis, the first Panzer III version to be fitted with a 5cm KwK L/42 cannon. However, on the Pz.Bef.Wg. version no 5cm gun was fitted, with just a single MG34 for self-defense and a dummy gun to fool the enemy. A total of 145 such Ausf.H command tanks were produced from November 1940 till September 1941, plus an additional 30 from December 1941 to January 1942.

This new 1/35 SMART KIT of the Pz.Bef.Wg.III Ausf.H depicts a command tank fitted with its fixed turret and dummy gun. While it wisely utilizes parts from recent Panzer III kits, it also features entirely unique components. Indeed, this kit has a special appearance compared to other members of the Panzer III family tree. For example, it has a brand new turret, and the upper hull is also new. Because the turret was fixed rather than rotating, the cutout is differently shaped to the round shape needed for the usual turret race. Installed on the engine deck is a characteristic large frame antenna for the long-range radio, and the vehicle looks most impressive when the turret-mounted telescopic antenna is shown extended. This Panzerbefehlswagen III H is produced to the very best engineering levels. All in all, it represents a commanding performance, and fills a niche in Dragon’s Panzer III lineup

 

1/35 Panther Ausf.D V2 Versuchsserie – Smart Kit

 

Box Size: 9.6″ x 15″ x 3.1″

The German Panther was one of the best tanks to see service in WWII. Designed from the outset to regain combat superiority over Soviet tanks like the T-34 on the Eastern Front, it represented a balance of firepower, mobility and protection. Two companies – Daimler-Benz and MAN – submitted design proposals for the new tank type, with the latter’s platform eventually being selected. Two final pre-production prototypes were delivered in November 1942 (named V1 and V2), and series production of the sleek-looking Panther tank soon commenced. In fact, the first 20 tanks of this preliminary series (designated D1) did not see combat as they were used as training and conversion vehicles.

This kit is logically based on Dragon’s existing Panther family kits, as well as the previously released V2, but a number of new parts have been created just for this release. Examples include the storage bins on the rear of the hull, new exhaust mufflers (and curved horizontal cover plate) and a pair of new air intake covers on the engine deck. This Versuchs-Serie pre-production tank has been intricately replicated in 1/35 scale, giving connoisseurs even easier access to the fascinating lineage of the Panther family.

This kit continues the Pin-up style series of figures in 1/24 scale. This kit is part of a new series for Master Box. The choice of scale for this Pin-up style series is because there is an enormous number of models in 1/24 scale on the market, but a deficiency of figures. The series is offered with the aim of making up this deficiency.

The kit consists of:
1 sprue with parts that allow creating one figure of a cowgirl dressed in Western style from life of the Wild West. It should be taken into account that the girl’s clothes are what was worn in the period of mastering the Wild West and do not reflect the real peculiarities of the clothes that were worn in that period.

This kit continues the series of figures in 1/24 scale performed in Pin-up style. This kit is part of new a series in 1/24 scale which is new for Master Box. The choice of scale for this Pin-up style series is because there is an enormous number of models in 1/24 scale on the market, but a deficiency of figures in this scale. The series is offered with the aim of making up this deficiency.

The kit consists of:
1 sprue with parts that allow creating one figure of a woman.
The pose of the woman allows using the figure busy changing a wheel or ready to carry a suitcase.

This model is part of a 3 kit series (24015, 24016 and 24017).
The modeler can make a scene using all three figures of the women on a journey that were forced to make a short stop or create his own independent scene.

Four figures represent a group of Italian military men and one figure represents figure of an Italian armoured vehicle crew member. There are numerous Italian armoured vehicles of the WWII era on the market and not enough figures for these models. This kit is aimed to fill this gap.

Yakovlev Yak-3 “Normandie-Niemen” HI-TECH

. It is possible to see the Yak fighter

as the best plane to have ever flown over the Eastern Front and which was made famous not only by Russian fighter pilots, but by the Normandie-Niemen regiment as well. This French-manned unit used to operate the Yak fighter planes during fightings over the Eastern Front, the French pilots from this unit returned to France in the cockpits of this plane too and kept on flying them in the post-war times. The French pilots achieved noticeable number of victories while flying the Yak-3, having their scores documented usualy on the fuselage side behind the cockpit.

The Hi-Tech kit decal sheet provides for five Normadie-Niemen camouflage options, all of them adorned with a lightning artwork on the fuselage. Four of the machines were flown by French aces, including the very best of them, Lt.Marcel Albert.

The kit comes on five sprues of grey styrene and one clear parts frame. What makes the difference of a Hi-Tech kit is the addition of alternative components made from resin and other materials. These comprise for example the resin exhausts and undercarriage wheels (mainwheels as well as the tailwheel), wireless set, gun cocking levers or gun muzzles. The modeller will also find a set of pre-cut masks and photo-etched parts offering seat harness and several smaller parts to fit into the cockpit.

Fokker D.21 “Dutch and Dannish”

The Fokker D.21 fighter was designed for the use by the Dutch East Indies but because of the political situation it saw also some fighting over Europe. The FD-332 prototype took off for the first time in March 1936 and possessed rather high performance. Despite of that, the Dutch military hesitated with their order and waited until Finland and Denmark began to negotiate about possible licence rights for these fighter planes. (Finland produced their licence D.21s with two different powerplants, both of them are in our range of plastic models under catalogue numbers SH48073 and SH48078) In total 36 were eventually built for the Dutch military and these machines were, along with the twin-engined Fokker G.1, the very best which could the Netherlands use for its defence. The Fokkers were usually outperformed by their German counterparts which were the Messerschmitt Bf 109 and Bf110 fighters, but the smaller and lighter Dutch planes possessed much higher manoeuvrability which brought them sometimes an advantage in the combat. However, despite their heroic performance, the few Fokkers were not able to avert the occupation of the Netherlands. The story of the Fokker fighter in Denmark was even more sad as the Danish machines were not able to succeed against the German onslaught at all, the Luftwaffe´s attack was so sudden and surprising that the Danish pilots failed to take their machines aloft. And yet, the Danish aircraft might have had the most heavy armament of all Fokker D.21 versions as the Denmark´s military had been testing 23mm Madsen cannons on their machines.

The kit comes on five sprues with styrene parts and one sprue of clear parts, there are also photo-etched parts, resin parts and a decal sheet. The decals cater for two Dutch and two Danish machines.

In the morning of May 10, 1940, Dutch pilot Tlt. Bram “Bob” van der Stok in the cockpit of his machine with number 234 managed to shot down one Bf 109E and damage another one. Later, he would also become one of only three successful participants of the “Great Escape” from Stalag Luft III prisoner camp. The second of the Dutch machines with no.221 was also rather successful, in its cockpit Tlt. Herman Doppenberg achieved one victory over a Bf 109. The Danish camouflage options offer two machines, a camouflaged J-47 and a silver-doped J-42 with cannon pods under its wings.
